Hvordan vil fremtidens nabolag i Helsinki se ut i år 2100?
Dette var utgangspunktet for visjonen i prosjektet Nabolag 2100. Prosjektet var et oppdrag for Helsinki kommune i sammenheng med 20-årsjubileet for byplanavdelingens satsingsprosjekt om Helsinki’s nabolag.
Fremtidsforskerne Bente Gilbu Tilset fra SINTEF og Sirkka Heinonen, Professor ved Finland Futures Research Centre (FFRS) ved University of Turku, ble trukket inn i en dialog for å identifisere nyvinninger i materialteknologi og relevant klimatilpasning.
Resultatet er presentert i form av et fremtidsbilde for Helsinkis nabolag i år 2100, som illustrerer bygninger som levende organismer som responderer på sine omgivelser og lever i symbiose med menneskene. Bygningsmaterialene skifter form etter temperatur, vær og minne, og tilrettelegger for fleksible bruksrom og sosiale møteplasser etter behov. Havnivået har steget, og med en nye former for infrastruktur i luften eller hevet over bakken har naturen fått lov til å rekolonisere det urbane gulvet.

Lähio 2100 er et prosjekt på oppdrag for Helsinki kommune i fellesbedriften Nordic Works (Uusi Kaupunki, Kollektiivi OY), som Kaleidoscope er medeier i.

How will the neighborhoods of Helsinki look in the year 2100? This was the starting point for our vision in the project Neighborhood 2100. The project was a commission for the Helsinki municipality in connection with the 20th anniversary of the city planning department's investment project for Helsinki's neighborhoods.
Futurists Bente Gilbu Tilset from SINTEF and Sirkka Heinonen, a Professor at the Finland Futures Research Centre (FFRS) at the University of Turku, were brought into a dialogue to identify innovations in material technology and relevant climate adaptation.
The result is presented in the form of a future image for Helsinki's neighborhoods in the year 2100, illustrating buildings as living organisms that respond to their surroundings and live in symbiosis with humans. Building materials change shape based on temperature, weather, and memory, facilitating flexible usage spaces and social meeting places as needed. Sea levels have risen, and with new forms of infrastructure in the air or elevated above the ground, nature has been allowed to recolonize the urban floor.
